Places to treat vegans in Oslo

There will be no problem to find a place to eat while visiting Oslo even if you are vegan. Oslo has prepared a wide variety of restaurants offering vegetarian/vegan menus for you to choose. Although Norway is one of the most expensive countries it is possible to find a place to eat even on a tight student’s budget.

These are three restaurants/cafes where we were having nice plant-based treats:

GitBit

GitBit is a 100% vegan menu offering Indian/Norwegian restaurant. Here you can have vegan pizzas for ~15 euros. Pizzas will surprise you for sure, because they are Indian not Italian type. There are three types of pizzas and you can choose a base of your pizza. We had a pizza which base was made of chickpeas, so it was very original, tasty, filling and I would say healthy version too. 😉 Moreover, this place is very calm with a well designed interior. Totally recommended to have a dinner here.

Loving Hut

Loving Hut is a small modest cafe with a strong vegan attitude. As you can predict Loving Hut offers 100% vegan menu which for our surprise was very wide. It seems that they serve everything you can think of. Food at Loving Hut is very tasty and portions are huge. We were also pleased with a sincere service. 🙂 We had huge unforgettably tasty burgers with fries (~10 euros). I know it wasn’t a very healthy and unique choice for our dinner in Oslo, however we enjoyed it a lot. Moreover, in Lithuania (country we are from) its hard to find vegan fast food options, so we take an opportunity when it’s possible. 🙂

One more interesting fact about Loving Hut is that it is one of the largest families of vegan restaurants spread all over the World and it won a lot of awards (Vegan of the year (2014), Favorite vegan restaurant (2010) and etc.) All in all, consider visiting it.

The Fragrance of the Heart

The Fragrance of the Heart is located in a shopping mall “GlasMagasinet”. Cafe serves vegetarian food and high quality coffee of their own brand. Moreover, they have a wide variety of vegan homemade desserts.  Their cakes were great, however not better than at my favorite tea/coffee place “Chaika” in Lithuania.

The Fragrance of the Heart has a lovely and cozy atmosphere, however it is pretty popular and busy cafe, so tends to be crowded and a little bit noisy. Any way I had great sweet break here with my beloved boyfriend.

Interesting fact: regularly free courses of meditation are organized at the cafe. It would be interesting to try something like that in cafes atmosphere. Probably I would be doing more of “NOM- NOM” than “OM”. 😀 Get it? 😀
